Jan 23, 2010 - Even the guys who made this cartoon felt it was too horrible. They changed it in a different episode so that Fry leaves a copy back in time with seymour and they live together just as they used to.

Jan 24, 2010 - I haven't even seen the clip yet, but just by reading the comments, the scene sounds terribly sad.

Jan 25, 2010 - originally it was supposed to be his mother who was fossilized.they changed it because it was going to be too sad for the audience.i think this is actually sadder. a dog knows loyalty like no human does.a human would give up, or search for the answer. poor dog cant.also, look up Hachikōwikipedia.

Jan 29, 2010 - @wapaposso do I. Considering it's just a cartoon (albeit a really good one), this episode is just so sad.
TK42138 Says:
Jan 29, 2010 - @farz1313Because you've got soul. I think it's the idea that a dog is loyal no matter what the owner put it through whether deliberately or not. I think this is one of the best cartoon episodes ever because it works on so many levels.

The2468spongebob Says:
Feb 1, 2010 - This episode of futurama was my all time favorite. The last time I saw this scene was in 2007, and now I'm watching it and it still makes me cry. I will never forget this episode.
Yankees614 Says:
Feb 2, 2010 - This episode is actually based off the real life story of "Hachiko." He belonged to a professor in Tokyo. Every day, Hachiko would wait at the train station for his owner to get off work. One day, the professor suffered a stroke at work and passed away. Hachiko was later given to someone else, but escaped and continued to wait for his owner at the train station... for 9 years... until he passed away. They just made movie about this in 2009, starring Richard Gere.

ProfessorMetalhead Says:
Jan 18, 2010 - "I Will Wait For You" by Connie Francis. It was featured in the 1964 musical, "The Umbrellas of Cherbourg". In the commentary for this episode, "Jurassic Bark", David X. Cohen and writer Eric Kaplan explain that their original choice was the Gang Opera from 2001: A Space Odyssey; but after hearing the lyric "...for a thousand summers, I will wait for you..." they couldn't pass this one up for a series set a thousand years in the future. Personally, I think it was the right decision. :-)
